OK, guys! Two rounds of celebration here: my first “street style” photo shoot for the blog…AND more pics of my new cropped hair!!
I love holidays, but I’ve never been a traditionalist–meaning I always find ways to celebrate in my own style and that have meaning to me. So for this 4th of July, I thought I’d break out of the traditional red, white, and blue outfit and go with something…a little more understated, and more my style.
Primary reds and blues are not a part of my personal color palette. I gravitate more towards tomatoey red-orange and indigo. So rather than buy a new outfit for the holiday (that didn’t really feel like me, and I’d only wear once), I shopped my closet for a new way to wear familiar pieces.
Denim is the most obvious blue staple for a patriotic style equation. I just happened to have a striped version in shorts. I knew I wanted to pair them with my red wedges to keep a retro, kitschy vibe. The bottom half of my outfit is so bold that I left things simple and classic on top. Just a solid cream-colored top with flecks of gold that barely hint at the fireworks show to come later that evening.
I’ll be celebrating Independence Day over good food, family, and fun…which usually ends in a tipsy living room dance party. What festivities do you have planned?
It was tons of fun putting together this post for you, so if you liked it and want to see more style posts like this, just let me know in the comments below! I’m thinking about doing them at least once a month.
P.S. I have an exciting new project in the works that I’m releasing in September. I’m creating it just for YOU! So I need to know what you need help with and what you want to learn about your wardrobe and your style. If you have 3 minutes to spare right now, please help me by answering my survey. There’s a free way to work with me inside!
